Add page numbers to a PDF

Number PDF pages as 1, "Page 1 of 9", "1 / 9" or with Bates numbers like ABC000001, in any corner, skipping the cover if you want.

How it works

  1. Choose a format and a corner; the preview shows how the first numbered page will look.
  2. Latin-script numbers are real text in the PDF, so Bates numbers can be searched. Other scripts are drawn by your browser.
  3. Rotated pages are numbered the way they are displayed.

Questions

What is Bates numbering?

A unique, zero-padded number with a prefix (ABC000001, ABC000002…) stamped on every page of documents exchanged in a court case, so each page can be referred to precisely.

Can I continue numbering from another file?

Yes: set "Start at" to the next number, for example 51 if the previous file ended at 50.
