Convert HEIC to JPG
Turn HEIC images into JPG right in your browser. Batch conversion, adjustable quality, metadata removed by default, and no file ever leaves your device.
HEIC
HEIC is the format iPhones save photos in since iOS 11. It keeps the same quality as JPG at about half the size.
Windows, Android apps and most upload forms still don’t accept HEIC, which is why it so often has to become a JPG.
JPG
JPG is the most compatible image format: every phone, browser, editor and upload form accepts it.
JPG has no transparency; transparent areas are filled with a background colour you choose, white by default.
How it works
- Your HEIC files are decoded by the browser on this device and saved as JPG. Photos keep their orientation.
- Drop many files at once and download them one by one or as a ZIP.
- Metadata such as GPS location is removed by default; switch it off to keep EXIF in JPG files.
Questions
Which browsers can open HEIC?
Safari reads HEIC natively. In Chrome, Edge and Firefox we download a HEIC decoder (about 1.5 MB, the open-source libheif compiled to WebAssembly) once, the first time you convert. It runs on your device and is cached.
Are my files uploaded?
No. Conversion happens in your browser; nothing is sent to a server.
Which licence do the codecs use?
The AVIF and WebP encoders are Apache-2.0 builds of libavif and libwebp. The HEIC decoder is libheif (LGPL-3.0), loaded as a separate file rather than built into our code.
